Dr. Raman Malhotra currently serves as Co-Director of the SLUCare Sleep Disorders Center, a state-of-the-art Sleep Center where he evaluates patients with an array of sleep disorders, such as sleep apnea, insomnia, restless legs syndrome, and narcolepsy. He also sees athletes with neurological disorders in the new Sports Neurology Clinic.

Dr. Raman Malhotra grew up in St. Louis and attended the University of Missouri-Kansas City for his undergraduate degree and medical school. He graduated with distinction from the School of Biological Sciences and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society in medical school. He then did neurology residency and a sleep medicine fellowship at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He is board certified in Neurology and Sleep Medicine, by both the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

From 2005-2008, Dr. Malhotra was named director of the Sleep Disorders Clinic and faculty member of the Michael S. Aldrich Sleep Center at the University of Michigan Medical Center, one of the largest and oldest sleep centers and sleep medicine fellowship training programs in the nation. He also served as the Athletic Sleep Medicine consultant for Michigan Neurosport, an innovative clinic dedicated to the neurological care of athletes.

Dr. Malhotra’s research interests include studying how sleep disorders affect the performance of college and professional athletes. He also has a clinical and research interest in improving diagnosis and treatment of sports-related concussions. He is actively involved in educating the public and other health care providers about the importance of recognizing and treating sleep disorders in our society.
