Dr. Cruz-Flores joined the faculty of the Department of Neurology at Saint Louis University in December of 1997.

Dr. Cruz is a 1985 graduate of the School of Medicine at the Unversidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon in Monterrey, Mexico, where he completed residencies in internal medicine and neurology. From 1992 - 1996, he trained in neurology at Saint Louis University. During this time, he received student awards for his efforts in teaching. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Cruz began a fellowship in cerebrovascular diseases and neurocritical care also at Saint Louis University. Dr. Cruz is board certified in Neurology and is a fellow of the Stroke Council of the American Heart Association. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Society of Neuroimaging, Society of Critical Care Medicine. He has published a spate of articles and presented abstracts on various topics related to cerebrovascular disease and neurocritical care.

Dr. Cruz’s interests are in the treatment and intervention of acute stoke and critical care neurology at Saint Louis University. He is the Director of the Souers Stroke Institute and is also an Associate Director of the Neurology Residency Training Program.

Dr. Cruz sees patients at the Doctor's Office Building and the John Cochran VA Medical Center.
