Dr. Brenner was born in 1945 at Waterville, Kansas. He attended Kansas State University and graduated with a BS in Zoology in 1968. He received his medical degree from Kansas University in Kansas City, Kansas in 1972.
Dr. Brenner attended Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. from 1972 to 1974 were he took an internship in neurology and an additional year of neurology residency training. He practiced neurology as an army physician at Ireland Army Hospital, Fort Knox, Kentucky from 1974 to 1976. He then completed his neurology residency training at Saint Louis University Health Science Center.
In 1979, Dr. Brenner became a staff neurologist at the Saint Louis Veterans Medical Center and Saint Louis University Health Sciences Center. His research interests have included the study of cellular mechanisms involved in aluminum toxicity of cultured rat hippocampal neurons. Dr. Brenner’s clinical interest involves caring for patients with headaches and spine disease, stroke, seizures, dementia and multiple sclerosis.
Dr. Brenner sees patients at John Cochran VA Medical Center and the Doctor's Office Building.
