Dr Suma Chand is a Clinical Psychologist specialized in Cognitive Behavior Therapy. She trained in Clinical Psychology (MPhil) from the National Institute of Mental Health & Neurosciences (NIMHANS), India, in 1981 and later obtained her PhD from the University of Bombay, India. She has received training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy from the Beck Institute for Cognitive Therapy and Research, Philadelphia and is a certified member of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. She is licensed to practice clinical psychology in the United Kingdom and the USA and has worked in a number of countries including India, Malaysia, the United Kingdom and Oman before moving to the United States. She started her career as a Clinical Psychologist in the Department of Clinical Psychology, NIMHANS in the year 1982. She later worked in the Department of Psychiatry at the University Sains Malaysia and in the Department of Clinical Psychology, Runwell Hospital in the U.K. She was Senior Clinical Psychologist and later Chief Clinical Psychologist, from 1990 till 2005 in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Medicine at the Sultan Qaboos University, Oman, where she set up a comprehensive clinical psychology service and also taught medical students and residents. More recently she worked in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Louisville providing Cognitive Behavior Therapy services in the University Psychiatric Services unit. Dr Suma Chand has extensive experience in Clinical Psychology and has published several articles related to behavior therapy and cognitive behavior therapy in peer reviewed journals and in book chapters. Dr Suma Chand joined the Department of Neurology and Psychiatry as Associate Professor in July 2008.
